چکیده

Most lithic industries associated with hunter-gatherergroups in Eastern South America, especially the ones points present, date tothe Early Holocene, some minor and typologiespersisting until Middle Holocene and, more rarely, Late Holocene. This is case for Garivaldinense industry pointstypologies. In this article we present technological analysis of pointsidentified at Pororó site, located central Rio Grande do Sul State,Brazil. The site an artificial mound dated to around 2,500 BP. We applied anestablished protocol stemmed considering metric, morphological features that allowed us classify artefactsin typologies. identified two types theGarivaldinense industry: Montenegro types. Wehave also a new type has never been described before andproposed refer it as type. At least one Pay Paso point wasidentified although not yet known other sitesof region chronology. results indicate persistence Culture from well astechnological innovation during Holocene.

Late Weichselian and Holocene palaeoceanography of Storfjordrenna, southern Svalbard

Multiproxy analyses (including benthic and planktonic foraminifera, δO and δC records, grain-size distribution, ice-rafted debris, XRF geochemistry and magnetic susceptibility) were performed on a C-dated marine sediment core from Storfjordrenna, located off of southern Svalbard. The sediments in the core cover the termination of Bølling–Allerød, the Younger Dryas and the Holocene and reflect g...

New Archaeological Evidences from the Late Pleistocene/Early Holocene Paso Otero 5 Site (Pampean Region, Argentina)

The archaeological knowledge of the early human occupations of the Pampean Region has improved through the finding of new archaeological sites dated between 10,000 and 11,200 RCYBP (Martínez et al. 2003; Politis 2003). Among them, Paso Otero 5 (Martínez 2001), chronologically located between ca. 10,000 and 10,400 years BP, is characterized by the presence of extinct megamammals and modern speci...

Lithic technological responses to Late Pleistocene glacial cycling at Pinnacle Point Site 5-6, South Africa

There are multiple hypotheses for human responses to glacial cycling in the Late Pleistocene, including changes in population size, interconnectedness, and mobility. Lithic technological analysis informs us of human responses to environmental change because lithic assemblage characteristics are a reflection of raw material transport, reduction, and discard behaviors that depend on hunter-gather...

Holocene and Late Pleistocene climate in the sub-Mediterranean continental environment: A speleothem record from Poleva Cave (Southern Carpathians, Romania)

The PP10 stalagmite from Poleva Cave provides a Late Pleistocene and Holocene isotopic record characteristic for the SW of Romania, a sub-Mediterranean climatic region. The speleothem was dated by eight TIMS and one alpha U-series dates which showed that it was precipitated between ∼75 ka and ∼2 ka with at least two hiatuses. The basal sector of the stalagmite showed a slow-growing regime of ∼0...
